Over 70 Summonses Issued For 'Unsafe, Dangerous' Truck Violations In Westchester

A police enforcement detail in Northern Westchester resulted in nearly 80 summonses being issued to truck drivers committing dangerous violations, authorities said.

The enforcement effort was announced by the North Castle Police Department on Wednesday, Nov. 8, and was conducted to check trucks for " unsafe and dangerous violations" that can result in serious accidents or even death, police said.

In order to conduct the checks, the department teamed up with the New York State Police and the New York Department of Transportation. As part of the detail, authorities checked lighting, weights of vehicles, brakes, trailers, proper documentation, and more. 

The checks resulted in the issuance of a total of 78 summonses on Wednesday, including six out-of-service violations, police announced. 

"This is a continuing effort to keep all motorists safe as they travel our roads and highways," North Castle Police said in a social media post.
